Beijing Organic Farm Co., Ltd. has its own 888 mu (a Chinese unit of area, 1 mu is equal to 1/15 of a hectare or 1/6 an acre) of organic vegetable production bases, mainly growing organic leaf vegetables, fruit vegetables, roots, spices, potted spices, sprouts and some other kinds of organic vegetables, with a total of 154 species and an annual yield of 4557 tons. There are 2 organic vegetable production bases in Shanghai, 1 base in Shandong, 1 base in Beijing and also 1 base in Kunming.

Biological and physical ways, sometimes combined with biological agents, are used to control pests: using insect proof nets to prevent pests, insecticidal lamps and sex pheromone to trap and kill adult insects, yellow sticky traps to stick and kill pests and stocking natural enemies, such as trichogramma, to control the number of insect eggs. Rotation systems are established, excellent varieties are chosen and biological agents, like pyrethrum, azadirachtin and biological soap sprays, are employed also to control pests. Strict requirements for operation procedures and scientific management systems are placed to make sure of careful and right production of high-quality organic foods of Organic Farm.

Organic Farm pays much attention to spread organic knowledge to consumers. Activities are taken out in farms on open days to let consumers deeply understand the cultivation, processing and other parts of production. Consumers those participated in the open day activities all indicated that they love to take parts in these activities to increase health awareness, and also are willing to support China’s environmental protection by purchasing organic foods.
